Vietnamese author won the Japanese international manga award

‘Dance of the Universe’ by author Nachi Nguyen won the silver prize at the Japan International Manga (comics) Award. This is the fifth time Vietnam has won this award.

The organizing committee of the Japan International Manga Award has just announced the list of winning works. The work Dance of the Universe (Vietnam) surpassed 587 works by other international authors to take home the silver award.

According to producer Comicola, this is the fifth time Vietnamese comics have received this award after 17 organizations.

Previously, Vietnam had the comic book “Đất Rồng” (2012) which won the bronze award; “Long Thần Tướng” (2015), “Địa Ngục Môn” (2016) won silver awards; “Bẩm thầy Tường, có thầy Vũ đến tìm” (2022) won bronze.

The comic artist’s love of astronomy

Sharing with Tuoi Tre Online, author Nachi said she was surprised and happy to receive this award because she did not dare to set high expectations for her work.

When participating in the contest, the story Dance of the Universe was not completed, but because the contest still accepted one-shots, she still submitted it.

Nachi Nguyen talked about the inspiration for creating the series:

“I’m a person who loves astronomy but I’m not good at math. Luckily, God still blessed me with hands that can draw.

So, instead of daydreaming about working at NASA, I decided to draw a story about the universe from my own perspective.”

The Dance of the Universe is a story about the daily life of celestial bodies such as: Sun, Earth, Moon, Saturn, Jupiter, Venus.

Together they protect life on the blue planet Earth.

Through drawings of planets transformed into humans, Nachi Nguyen hopes to be able to explain the universe in an easy-to-understand way, making astrophysics no longer dry and becoming closer to everyone. .

Dance of the Universe is expected to have 3 episodes. The female author is trying to complete volume 1 to release to readers in the upcoming spring of 2024.
